Before they are set to open for DJ Dancing FaraZ at SpringFest, I sat down with the Brothers Ramirez to ask a few questions about their music, their origins, and their hopes for the future as DJs.

Saturday night at The Pub tends to always err on the side of fun or stellar. Still, this past Saturday’s double-header concert with Casey Smith Project and The Jephries, who finally made their debut at UAF’s long-loved establishment and one of the venues for music in all of Fairbanks, was undoubtedly one of the most high-octane performances all year. The Jephries also returned to Fairbanks this weekend for the first time since pre-Covid!

We have the privilege of hosting the fantastic Seattle based DJ, Faraz Zarghami, otherwise known as DancingFaraZ. He’ll be performing at this year’s Starvation Gulch, which will be held on September 23rd, starting at 10pm in the Nenana parking lot on campus. This past spring semester, UAF students and community members lined up outside the Student Recreation Center in anticipation of the SpringFest Concert featuring MICHELLE with opener Jake Chavez.

The latest Gorillaz album came out on February 24th after months of high anticipation from fans. Cracker Island is their eighth studio album, its production began in 2021 after the Gorillaz Netflix movie was scrapped. They collaborated with an impressive list of artists for this album including Stevie Nicks, Bad Bunny, Tame Impala, and more. 

Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohen, and Sarah Jarosz join the Fairbanks Concert Association for a performance which honors the memory of legend David Crosby.

On Friday night, those at the Pub were graced with a fortuitous rendition of Medium Build’s music by a talented group of artists on guitar, bass, drums, and accompanying vocals.

It is the perfect soundtrack for riding the Dalton Highway…the revelatory feeling of the silence that comes after Reset is only made possible by the sonic journey the album provides.
