Nanooks Take a Loss to Denver

By Autumn McPherson

October 7th, 2023, the University of Alaska Fairbanks hockey team, the Nanooks, entered the rink against a difficult team to beat, Denver. Ultimately, the Nanooks lost with a 3-7 score. During the third period, the Denver team landed their seventh goal, injuring the Nanooks goalie Lassie Lehti, number 35. By the look of it, his leg had been injured, as he was limping off the ice. “It’s always tough for a goalie to come in the middle of the game when you have been sitting on the bench for half of it,” said team captain Harrison Israels. “The legs and muscles are cold, and I think Lassi got the worst of that when he was making a cross ice save.” Due to this injury, goalie number 1, William Hambley, joined the rink. After Hambley joined the rink, no other goals were made against the Nanooks. Although this was a tough game for the Nanooks it shows determination and strength that they continued to put on their best game no matter the outcome.
