By Autumn McPherson

On November 10th, 2023 the Nanooks Men’s Basketball team played against Hawaii Pacific University and won with a 69-64 score with nine fouls against them and nine fouls against Hawaii.

With five and a half minutes left on the clock during the first half, Paul Johnson, #2 on the Nanooks, got a three pointer seconds after the Nanooks got multiple fouls called on their team. This was a huge turning point for the Nanooks' momentum in the game.

Once the boys got back on their feet, they showed off their skills with Trey Anderson, #12, and Abdullahi Mohamed, #0, succeeding in a dunks for the team, as well as Brain Nguyen, #3, giving off fantastic fake outs to distract the team from blocking their passes.

Abdullahi Mohamed not only showed off with his dunking skills but brought entertainment to the audience and his teammates by making animal-like noises to the Hawaii team while blocking their pass. The match seemed like it would be a difficult one as Hawaii had a player, Matthew Van Komen, with a height of 7’4”.

However, the match went smoothly as the Nanooks skills overtook Hawaii Pacific University by a mile even with the difficult start.
